Bank, now Building Society office. Dated 1928 on rainwater head. Timber frame
on brick plinth with brick nogging and plaster infilling, red tile roof.
Approximately rectangular plan on corner site. Vernacular revival Jacobean style,
with close-studding. Three storeys with 3 bays to Bridge Street and 2 bays to
North Street; the facade to Bridge Street is composed of 2 gabled bays
projecting from the side of the main range: a wide gabled bay to the left, a
narrower gabled bay in the centre attached to this and set back slightly, and the
side of the main range which faces North Street; the ground floor has mullion-
and-transom windows beneath the jettied upper floors of the gabled bays, a
doorway to the left of the first, and a 4-light casement under a pentice roof in
the angle with the main range; the windows of the upper floors are mullioned
casements; the left gable has diamond-pattern timbering and both have deep
carved barge-boards; and a rainwater-head attached to the main range is dated
1928. The 2-bay facade to North Street has coupled transomed windows of 8 and
12 lights at ground floor with a doorway to the left, 2 transomed 10-light
windows at 1st floor, and continuous mullioned fenestration at 2nd floor beneath
coupled gables. Interior not inspected.
