House. Circa 1913 by M. H. Baillie-Scott in C17 vernacular style, extended in
1960's in similar style. Red-brown brick with central timber-framed range with
whitewashed render infilling. Steeply pitched plain tiled roofs. Long rectangular
plan with gable end wing to right. Two storeys and attics to left and centre with
basement to right hand extension where ground drops away. Cross-ridge stacks on
stepped plinth to centre and right of centre, including 4 octagonal stacks in
central group, further stacks to ends. Hipped roof leaded dormer to right of
centre. Projecting break to left with half-glazed door flanked by single windows.
3-light leaded casement window in timber-framed range, set back to centre.
Planked door to right in angle re-entrant with double gable range. One cross
window to first floor of left gable under tile-on-edge lintel, similar window
to right over further door. Gable end extensions to right:- 3-light leaded case-
ment fenestration on the first floor, 4-light window below. Right hand gable
asymmetrical and extending under catslide to right end. Right hand return front:-
Dormer in roof, door in porch recess up 7 steps. Rear:- Flat roofed dormers.
One 3-light and one 6-light leaded casement to right. Canted bay window to centre.
Picture windows on ground floor. Flat-roofed single storey projection to left.
The garden was originally laid out by Gertrude Jekyll.
