Former dining hall. 1887-9 by Charles Lancaster, part of the self-
contained cottage home complex. Red brick and stone
dressings, slate roof. 1 storey, 3 x 10 bays. Stone base,
top entablature and balustrade. Central stone bay breaks
forward with applied tetrastyle Corinthian portico with
pilasters. Central round-headed entrance has complete
fanlight, frieze and cornice. Flanking bays have rusticated
brick pilasters and stone archivolts. Windows have banded
round arches and shell tympana; panelled aprons. Tower has
square base. Projecting bays have clock faces and pediments,
stone surrounds to-clock faces. Domical vault in 3 stages
with cornices, louvres below top stage. Returns are similar.
Rear has central entrance, with 2-light overlight flanked by
2-light windows, all now blocked (1984). Consoled open
pediment to entrance. Flanking bays break forward with
fielded panels.
