Small country house. Early to-mid C18. Sandstone ashlar with
squared coursed sandstone to sides and rear. Hipped roofs of
concrete tile and slate. Main chimneys on north and south
walls and near centre of ridge. The east facade is a
symmetrical composition of 2 storeys and 7 bays, with
chamfered quoins, ground and first-floor sill bands, a storey
band, cornice, and parapet. The 3 central bays project
forwards slightly under a pediment and are emphasised by
chamfered quoins. The windows are glazing bar sashes in
architraves with triple keystones. Within the pediment there
is a Diocletian window (the outer lights blank) under a curved
cornice moulding. The round-headed doorway is set within a
sandstone doorcase of engaged Tuscan columns, triglyph frieze,
and pediment.
INTERIOR: The panelled entrance hall has a floor and
bolection-moulded fireplace of marble. An archway with
pilaster reveals opens into a rear stair hall which contains a
cantilevered stone staircase with iron balustrade. The
principal ground-floor rooms have panelling which is said to
be of painted plaster.
