Terrace houses. c.1734. Stock brick, slate roofs. 4 storeys and basements. Each
front 3 windows wide. Shop fronts on ground floor of 1851 by C. Lockyer, faced in
channelled stucco with order of paired Tuscan pilasters supporting entablature with
modillion cornice. No. 33 retaining original shop window with arcaded lights;
square headed house and shop doorways with fanlights and panelled house doors. Upper
floors have recessed sash windows, most with glazing bars and those on 1st floor of
No. 33A with exposed boxing, under red brick segmental arches with red brick dressing
but with flat gauged arches on top floors. Parapet with coping returned to Bateman
Street flank of No. 33 where 2 of 3 windows are blind. Cast iron area railings.
Interiors include original fluted pilasters in entrance passages, closed string
stairs with turned balusters (partly boxed in) and box cornices on 1st floor of No.
33A.
