Heyes Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse, now house. Mid C18, altered. Handmade red brick in
English garden wall bond (part rendered) on a high stone
plinth, with slate roof. Rectangular double-depth
double-fronted plan with front porch, plus added service wing
to rear. Two storeys plus attics, 1:1:1 windows, almost
symmetrical, with a plinth of large squared stone blocks
almost 2 metres high, and a 2-course band (not carried round);
a full-height 2-storey gabled porch offset slightly left of
centre, with a round-headed archway and C20 glazed inner door,
and a blocked one-light window above; otherwise, both floors
have tall segmental-headed windows with raised sills and
gauged brick heads. Wall to left at 1st floor rebuilt. Gable
chimneys. Left gable wall (with scored render) has glazed
porch to C19 doorway, and 2 small 4-pane attic windows;
right-hand gable wall has 2 blocked attic windows. Rear: C19
single-storey service wing with tall gable chimney.
