Description

SK 'O SE MANTON PRIORY ROAD (North side)

4/76 No. 28 Stonefield Farm

GV II

House, gable onto street, dated in gable wall 1772 with initials S over I O
but probably with earlier core, and since there is some evidence that the
building has been heightened, perhaps the date refers to such an alteration.
Coursed rubble with ashlar bands in gable wall, but various builds in long
walls. 2 storeys, 2 unit plan, with one stone mullioned, ovolo moulded
window to ground floor in west wall, and a casement above it, and a further
window with chamfered timber lintel to right. On the east side, a 2-light
casement to each floor with chamfered timber lintels. Part of a lintel or
hoodmould has been built into the angle of the wall. In the gable wall, is
the datestone above a 2-light casement with chamfered timber lintel.
Doorway in lower addition to north gable end stacks.
