Barn and cowhouse. C17 or C18 cowhouse, early C19 barn attached.
Some internal timber framing to cowhouse. Gritstone, the earlier
work sparsely mortared, the C19 work coursed, squared. Stone slate
roofs. Tall threshing barn to left built onto low cowhouse with
hayloft. Cowhouse has two entrances with heavy gritstone surrounds,
one jamb of left-hand doorway collapsed. Square pitching hole to
right return. Barn has large opposed central doorways, both with
neat quoin reveals and wood lintels. Two small doorways to left,
one partially infilled, some square vents. Pigeon ledge with dressed
opening to left return. Cowhouse interior: cruck pair raised high
on rough columns. Wall tie, single purlin, diagonal-set ridge in
crossed apex. Halvings for windbraces and purlin tie. Included
partly for group value.
