GV II

Barn, cowhouse and forge. Early C18, partly converted to forge C19.
Coursed, squared gritstone, stone slate roof, corrugated iron roof
to outshut. Single range with central partial outshut. Single storey
with central hayloft. Large quoins. Board door to left with deep
lintel, C19 casement with glazing bars to right. Outshut has board
door to right of altered openings. To right of outhsut, tall boarded
harr-hung doors to cart entrance, quoined right reveal. Moulded
kneelers and gable copings to right end only. Rear: altered openings,
tall rough-ashlar stack to eaves at forge end. Interior: left hand
part retains forge hearth built in large gritstone blocks. Barn to
right end has early principal rafter truss. Brick addition to rear
left not of special interest. Included partly for group considerations.
