- II
House, c.1600. 3-cell cross-passage entrance plan. 2 storeys. Timber-framed
and plastered. Thatched roof with axial C17/C18 chimney of red brick. C20
casements with leaded glazing; in the parlour to left is a thatched-roofed
square bay window. Two C19 boarded entrance doors, each with a thatched open
C20 porch on posts. Good exposed framing throughout: chamfered floor-joists,
and in the parlour closely-spaced studding. One mullioned window with roll-
and-cavetto mullions, another with ovolo-mouldings. Back-to-back open
lintelled fireplaces; alterations in this area suggest an original chimney of
earlier form. In the hall there survives the top rail from a plank-and-muntin
cross-passage screen. Wind-braced clasped-purlin roof.
