House, mid C16 and mid C17 in two sections. 3-cell cross-passage entrance
plan (the third, parlour cell being added in C17). 1 storey and attics, the
parlour cell of 2 storeys with attics. Timber-framed and roughcast.
Concrete-tiled roof with axial chimney of red brick, the shaft mainly
roughcast. Mainly C20 casements. C20 panelled entrance door in lean-to
porch. The C16 work comprises a 2-bay hall and service cell; the chamber
above them is undivided, apart from an arch-braced tie-beam. Widely spaced
studwork with long arched wind-braces and several original blocked windows
with square mullions. Large unchamfered floor joists over the hall (those in
the service cell were renewed in C20). The C17 parlour block has on-edge
floor joists, and a chimney having a lintelled open fireplace to the hall and
arched brick fireplaces to the parlour and chamber above, the latter being
ovolo-moulded. C17 newel staircase. The roofs were rebuilt mid C20 after a
fire. Included despite C20 alterations because of good and early internal
features.
