House in row. Late C17-early C18, refaced C19. Pebbledashed stone
and brick, with tiled roof. Two storeys and attic. Entrance in
end bay of No 48, Palm House (q.v.) to hall with drawing room to
left and cross stair hall before dining room and kitchen in rear
wing. Six-panelled door and flat canopy on shaped brackets. C19
twelve-paned sashes to both floors, and hipped dormer. Roof rises
to above No 48 and is half hipped to left.
Interior: Building probably represents parlour end of C17 house.
Hall with early C18 pine panelling and fine round headed C18
display cabinet in internal wall to drawing room. This has
panelling and shutters, and C18 fireplace with Carrara slips.
Stair has two turned balusters per tread, handrail and newel
replaced by newel from Spye Park, but original early C18 handrail
on upper flights. Stone fireplace to first floor, also C18
panelling and shutters.
