MARKET LAVINGTON
HIGH STREET
(north side)
No 35 (Greystones House)

GV
II

House with office. Early C18. Rendered greensand, with tiled
roof. Two storeys and cellar. Three bays. Central stair hall,
flanking reception rooms and rear wing on left with dining room and
kitchen. Central panelled door in round arched opening. Twelve-
paned sashes, and Venetian windows to both floors in east gable
end. Lean-to block at east end, now office, probably a survival of
an independent C17 house. Kitchen in rear extension has early C19
Gothic ogee headed timber and leaded window.
Interior: Timber framed partitions to hall. Early C19 dog leg
stair with stick balusters and brackets to treads. Rear wing has
angle fireplace and early C18 cupboard with wavy splat vent over,
and ogee stops to chamfered spine beam. This is repeated in cellar
under front room. Office has deep chamfered ceiling beam with bar
and octagon stops, and similar cross beam to cellar.
