Description

TEWKESBURY

SO83SE MILL BANK
859-1/2/288 (South East side)
04/03/52 No.7
(Formerly Listed as:
MILL BANK
Nos.7 AND 8)

GV II

House in row. C16, but mid-C20 facade. Rendered, internal
timber-framing, tile roof. 2 storeys and attic, 2-windowed.
Large dormers above steel casements and central C20 door.
Mansard roof, brick stack to left. INTERIOR modified, but
retains heavy lateral and transverse beams and ceiling joists
from C16 structure, and a 2-purlin roof. Externally this shows
little evidence of early provenance; an early C20 photograph
shows that it was then 2 cottages, with large central recessed
opening to 2 doors and wide-spaced C18 casements. Part of an
important early group facing Abbey Mills (qv), and on a raised
pavement (qv) to reduce risk of annual flooding.
