Villa. Early C19. Probably by Philip Sambell for Josephus
Ferris, developer. Stuccoed masonry; asbestos slate hipped
roof with projecting eaves. Rectangular plan, 3 rooms deep, 2
rooms wide; central entrance hall. 2 storeys; symmetrical
3-window front to Edward Street has central wide
elliptically-arched doorway with 4-panel door, fanlight and
scribed pilasters and rusticated architraves within
flat-roofed open porch on fluted Doric columns; panelled quoin
pilasters and moulded window architraves with late C19
four-pane horned sashes and widely-spaced eaves brackets.
Frances Street elevation has overall 4-window front:
symmetrical 3-window front with rusticated quoins, on the
left, and 1-window return of Edward Street front, on the
right. INTERIOR not inspected but likely to be of interest.
