Three town houses, now 2 shops and an office. Early/mid C18.
Nos 5 & 6 (left) have upper floor of slatehanging on studwork,
No.7 is stuccoed on masonry to ground floor (front) and on
studwork above, steep dry Delabole slate roofs with deep eaves
over wooden modillioned and moulded cornice and 5 gabled
slate-hung dormers including 2 dormers to No.7 with pediments
and 2 more to its hipped return; brick axial stack between Nos
6 & 7.
Double-depth plan on tapered site between Quay Street and
Prince's Street. 2 storeys plus attics; overall 6-window
range. No.5 has 2 late C19 horned sashes over early C20 shop
front with consoles and moulded fascia. No.6 has 3 similar
sashes over C20 double shop front flanking central doorway
surmounted by a pedimented hood.
Symmetrical 1-window front of No.7 has plinth, stucco quoins;
central early C19 tripartite hornless sash with glazing bars
over original wooden Roman Ionic doorway, with full
entablature to hood, linked to moulded wooden string cornice
over flanking late C19 horned sashes. Similar sashes to
symmetrical 3-window front of right-hand return. Stair hall
overlooks small courtyard and has 2 original windows: a
2-light casement and a fixed light both with heavy glazing
bars.
INTERIOR: No.7 has virtually complete good quality interior
with panelled doors, fielded dado panelling and moulded
ceiling cornices to principal rooms; front chamber has eared
chimney piece with overmantel with scrolled head and ceiling
with round central panel and square corner panels and there is
a dogleg stair with turned balusters.
