House, former shop on ground floor. Late C16 possibly earlier
and C19 exterior. Timber-framed and rendered with low pitched
slate gabled roof. 3 storeys with stack at SW gable end.
Second floor has 2 small 2-light casement windows with
top-hung ventilators. First floor has 2 similar but larger
windows. Ground floor has C19 shop front with fascia and 5
simple pilasters. These frame a pair of entrance doors, a
single entrance door and 2 large window openings with mullions
and transoms. Doors are glazed with single horizontal glazing
bar and square raised-and-fielded panels below. Splayed
recessed corner linking with splayed elevation of No.10. Three
bays of timber-framing with c1500 moulded bridging joists on
each floor, possibly reused. Suggestions of a late C16 date
incorporating earlier material and raised in height in early
C19. INTERIOR: early C19 staircase with column newels and
stick balusters.
