Walls enclosing the churchyard,
Church of St Leonard
GV II
Walls, including the wall of former dwelling. Late medieval
and C18-C19, repaired C20. Unknapped flint wall with cement
coping. Plan: boundary wall of churchyard with Heighton Road,
returned along S side of churchyard as embankment wall forming
the boundary with the Manor House (qv), surmounted in part by
a standing section of wall from an unidentified medieval
structure. The latter, about 5m long and 2m high, contains a
piece of dressed stone, possibly reset and part of an early
C16 window opening.
A number of medieval buildings stood in the vicinity of the
churchyard and were swept away during the C18.
