Pair of attached houses. c1840. Limestone ashlar, roof not
visible. Double-depth plan. Italianate style. 2 storeys,
basement and attic; 6-window range.
A symmetrical pair with 1-window middle range end entrance
blocks stepped back, banded rustication to the ground floor,
first-floor pilasters to the corners and centre, a cornice and
parapet, and an attic storey a with coped parapet. Projecting
single-storey porches have 2-panel doors. Architraves to the
windows with console cornices on the ground floor, to 6/6-pane
sashes to the centre, 3/3-panes to the attic, and 4/4-pane
sashes to the outer blocks.
INTERIOR: No.26, entrance hall and rear lateral dogleg stair
with turned balusters, cornices and 6-panel doors. Nos 26-36
Cotham Road (qv) share a common plan and elevation, with small
variations.
