Water mill. '1791 J Compton' on dated plaque,withCl9 additions and
alterations. Converted to dwellings and shop in 1986. Coursed limestone
rubble with freestone dressings, Collyweston stone slated roofs, and red
pantiled roof. Three storeys and attics to main north-south range with
mansard roof, gable extension of two storeys to south formerly linked at right
angles to east-west range. Single storey and attic steam engine house to
north with western outshut and tapering red brick stack. West elevation:
seven main bays, segmental arched head with dropped keystones to all windows
with cast iron glazing bars, five first floor and ground floor windows with
central four panes pivot hung, second floor windows with eight panes. Two
boarded first floor doors; wheel archway to left hand, double glazed doors to
left of centre and brick segmental arched opening to right of centre.
Internal machinery largely intact, including two wheels one with fourteen foot
diameter, two pairs of stones, sash hoists and grain bins.
