Monument. Mid C18. By Nathaniel Ireson. Local stone. Two course plinth, about 900mm square, then a rusticated pier
in 4 sections; flat top with cornice mould of bold projection; then a block surmounted by a statue in C18 costume, less
than lifesize, in all about 3 metres tall; the statue faces South West. On the North face several inscriptions, of
which the top reads "IN MEMORY OF/ NATHANIEL IRESON/MASTER BUILDER WHO ERECTED/THIS MONUMENT FOR HIMSELF/AND FAMILY
MOST OF THEM/LYING NEAR THIS PLACE HE/DIED APRIL 18, 1769/AGED 83 YEARS"; other inscriptions on West and South faces.
Statue rather worn: pier may be a restoration.
