House. Mid-C17. Timber framed with painted brick nogging; plain tile roof.
Baffle-entry plan of 2 framed bays. 2 storeys and gable-lit attic. Jettied
first floor and gable ends with moulded bressumers and shaped brackets;
central brick ridge stack with 3 square shafts and pilaster shafting.
Framing: close studding with middle rail; long straight tension braces;
square panels at rear. 2-window front; C19 three-light wooden casements;
small blocked windows, on first floor to right and ground floor to left.
Central C17 boarded door with strap hinges; full-height central porch has
jettied gable with brackets and lozenge-decorated bressumer, and small
casement with flanking decorative scrolls; first-floor 2-light C19 wooden
casement with flanking vertical strips of 4 quatrefoil panels and 2 blind
round arches beneath with carved spandrels; round-arched entrance with
carved spandrels and central pendants; small blocked first-floor window
in left-hand return front, and 2-light ground floor windows in return
front; some of the porch decoration has been re-newed, probably in the
C19 or C20. Left-hand return front: small C19 attic casement with cusped
apex in frame above; blocked first-floor window and ground floor C19 three-
light wooden casement. Interior not inspected, but likely to be of interest;
pairs of purlins noted in gable end. The first floor right-hand room is
part of No.2, Uppington (q.v.).
