Group of three chest tombs, ashlar, C18. From north:
a) Unidentified memorial, mid C18, with 2 raised octagonal
plaques each side, fielded panelled piers to angles and centre
with centre rosettes, moulded base and cornice, with pulvinated
frieze broken forward over piers.
b) Tilly memorial, mid C18, near identical to a) above.
Inscription to John Tilly Jr.
c) Unidentified memorial, early C18, with 2 shield plaques each
side, scroll ornament to centre and angle piers, moulded base
and cornice with frieze broken forward over piers. Cartouches
to each end. Monument is sunk, and partly dismantled (1986).
Tombs are in the churchyard of the former Church of St James,
demolished 1880.
