15/94 The George and Dragon Inn

GV II

Inn, C17 altered in C19, roughcast over timber-frame with plain
tile roofs, C19 carved bargeboards, ridge stack to main range and
north end stack to crosswing. 2 storeys. Main range has first
floor long triple casement and casement pair, ground floor
casement, triple casement and framed plank door in angle to
crosswing under tiled porch carried on half-columns, one on main
range, one on wing. East end wall has first floor long triple
casement. Crosswing has brick plinth, east side triple casement to
first floor and north end 2-window range of casement pairs, lower
pair under dripcourse, upper pair each with hoodmould. Lean-to on
west wall. Parallel rear range.
Interior: moulded Tudor-arched stone fireplace backing on entrance
passage, some framing and some chalk lump walling exposed. West
side ground floor room has heavy chamfered beam and timber-lintel
fireplace on rear wall.
