Stables and stable yard archway. Early C19 and early C20, probably altered by
Detmar Blow in 1915 when approach to house moved to the west side. Inclined
red brick headers alternating with knapped flints in courses. Red brick details
and quoining to angles and jambs, plain tiled roofs. A cross range on north
side of stable yard with a central taller archway giving access to forecourt,
shorter side ranges: lean-to against barn (q.v.) to west and gabled to east.
Yard paved in bands of cobbles separated by single courses of bricks. Wide,
semi-circular archway with cogged brick eaves cornice and hipped roof with
terminal gablets to a short ridge which carries a metal windvane with a gilded
sheet metal bird. A pair of horse boxes with vertical boarded stable doors
each with a fixed frame window with bars to the side on either side of archway.
Three horse boxes with similar features in the west range and tack room in the
east range with central boarded doors, two casements to left and one to right.
