Shop with former offices (now storage) above. c1865; architect
not known. Red brick banding and sandstone dressings, slate
roof hipped over the main range. Ruskian Gothic style. Three
storeys, 1:3 windows, vigorously asymmetrical, the 1st bay
gabled and slightly set back: with a sawtooth still-band to
the 1st floor, and an oversailing parapet to the main range
with carved foliated sandstone bands. The ground floor has a
shop front with panelled pilasters at either end, a panelled
door to the left with a square overlight, and plate-glass shop
windows with slender glazing posts. At 1st and 2nd floors the
main range has arcaded windows with polychrome heads, those at
1st floor with shouldered openings, carved crocketed caps and
2-centered arched relieving arches, and those at 2nd floor
with segmental-pointed heads. The set-back bay to the left has
a 1st-floor oriel, and above this a segmental-pointed window
in a steeply-pitched gablet which breaks through a tall
parapet and has a monagram "M&K" in the apex. Steeply-pitched
roofs, with tall side chimney to the left and a cut-down
chimney at the junction of the ranges.
