Lace warehouse, now offices. 1894. By John Howitt of
Nottingham for A Heymann. Altered late C20. Red brick, with
ashlar ground floor, ashlar and terracotta dressings. Roof not
visible.
Plinth, rusticated ground floor, ground floor cornice,
dentillated main cornice with terracotta frieze, coped parapet
with pedestals. Windows are mainly original plain sashes
arranged in pairs, with moulded lintels. 4 storeys plus
basement; 9 window range. Symmetrical front with end bays
defined by pilasters.
Ground floor has in each end bay an ashlar doorcase with
pilasters and entablature, panelled double door and overlight.
In the centre, 7 pairs of glazing bar windows, with transoms.
Above, regular fenestration, with 9 pairs of plain sashes to
each floor. Basement has flat-headed openings.
Right return, 3 bays, has similar fenestration to the end
bays, and 3 windows to the centre bay. Left return remodelled
late C20.
INTERIOR has stone cantilever dogleg stair with cast-iron
balustrade and ramped handrail. Chamfered segment-arched
doorways with replica panelled doors. Round cast-iron columns
to ground floor.
