ROCKLEIGH.
Gazebo. c1830-40, restored early 1990s. Architect Thomas
Smith. Timber-framed, with timber cladding, and a pantiled
roof. Gothick style.
EXTERIOR: single storey, with diagonally set boarding between
exposed studs. Cast-iron lancet head windows with margin
lights and lattice pattern centres.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: the building was originally sited in the
garden of No.2 North Road (qv), designed by Smith as his own
house. The gazebo was restored in the early 1990s, and stands
in the grounds of a modern house, created by the subdivision
of the earlier garden.
