GV II

House, now in commercial use. Mid C19. Limestone ashlar,
hipped slate roof with elaborated moulded ashlar stacks to
left and rear. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; symmetrical 5-window range, 3 bays.
Modillion cornice, plain architraves with rounded corners,
plate-glass sash windows, eared-and-shouldered surrounds and
bracketed sills to 1st-floor windows, paired to the outer
bays. Canted bays to the ground floor have pierced guilloche
parapet walls flanking a 4-panel door glazed to the top with
overlight set in a stone doorcase with engaged Corinthian
columns supporting a cornice and blocking course.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
One of a group of houses in New Road built after the arrival
of the railway in 1840-41.
