Barn and cider house. Probably C17 to C18 with C20 extension. Timber-frame,
finely coursed rubble, corrugated iron roof. Six bays aligned east/west
against eastern slope, concrete lean-to extension to west, cider house is in
two east bays. South elevation: full-height doors to threshing floor to left;
2 entries to right hand side including ledged door in chamfered door frame
with decorative strap hinges to cider house. Rubble east gable end with entry
from high ground, door frame with run-out stop chamfers. Rear elevation has
6 ventilator slits to right of full-height ledged doors (fourth bay from east).
Interior: queen strut trusses; threshing floor contained on east side by
partition of frame stone slabs about 3 feet high. Complete cider mill and
cider press in ground floor of east bay: octagonal stone with moulded posts
to support screw which is also hung from large oak baulk (about 10" x 8") on
upper floor.
