5/104 Barn about 30 yards west
of Fair Oak Farmhouse

Barn. Probably C17, extended in late C18 or early C19. Timber-frame, part
finely coursed rubble, partly weatherboarded, partly corrugated iron cladding
and roof. Five bays aligned north/south, consisting of 4 C17 bays to north
and one bay rubble extension to south. North end links with adjacent barn
and cider house (qv). East elevation has 2 ventilator slits above mid-C20
8-pane metal window to left hand side, C18 ledged door to right, raised
doors to threshing floor in second bay from right. Framed part is 2 panels
high from rubble plinth to wall-plate. Interior: heavy low trusses to
threshing floor have queen struts to collars. Included primarily for group
value.
