Farmhouse. Mid-to late C16 with later C19 alterations and additions.
Timber framed with rendered wattle and daub and red brick nogging;
coursed red-sandstone and red brick additions; plain tile roof with
catslide over outshut at rear. L-plan; 3 framed bays with additions
at rear. One storey and attic with 2-storey addition, 2 gabled eaves
dormers with 2-light wooden casements, shaped barge boards, and finials;
brick stack behind ridge off-centre to left; integral brick end stack
to right, and external brick end stack to rear wing. Framing: heavy
square panels (3 from sole-plate to wall-plate) with short straight
corner braces. 4-window front; one- and 3-light C19 wooden casements
including canted bay second from left; gabled porch off-centre to right
with pierced scalloped barge boards and finial, and door with 6 flush
panels. Left-hand gable end with C19 gabled porch, C19 two-light
attic casement, and exposed collar and tie-beam truss with queen
struts and v-struts. 2 gabled wings at rear. Interior: chamfered
beams and joists with ogee stops; square-panelled framed cross-walls,
both with shaped-headed blocked doorways; large open fireplace with
chamfered lintel ; various C19 fireplaces; dairy in outshut at rear with
low shelves.
