UTTOXETER
MARKET PLACE
No 27

GV
II

Shops with accommodation over. Early C19 but possibly containing
medieval work. Brick (possibly cladding remains of timber
framing); Welsh slate roof. The building occupies the site, and
very likely contains parts, of a late-medieval house, namely the
principal bays of an aisled open hall, the cross-passage and
spere truss of which is visible in the adjacent property (no 25,
qv). Exterior: 3-storey, regular 2-window range. Late-C20 shop
fronts. 4-pane sash windows under wedge lintels to upper floor.
Moulded stone eaves cornice. Brick end stack to left. Interior
not inspected.

These buildings were added in error to the 18th List for the
District of East Staffordshire by the 3rd amendment, dated 11
September 1991, and the 4th amendment, dated 27 July 1992. They
have now been deleted from that list by the 5th amendment, dated
8 JAN 1993
