Manor house, originally built for the Streatfeild family who were connected
with the old iron industry in this district. Dated 1679 over door. Brick and
tile hung elevations masking light framed structure. Principal elevation facing
west with ridge tile roof. 2 storeys and hip tiled dormers. Modern lattice
windows in light C17 oak frames moulded internally with mullions and transoms.
In centre C17 panelled oak door in frame with ornamental architrave moulding
surround surmounted by carved oak semi-circular projecting hood with ornamental
shell shaped soffit and supported on carved scroll brackets. South gable end
elevation with oversailing 1st floor supported on moulded soffit beam. Moulded
bargeboards with centre curved pendant. The rest of the house is irregular
in shape with hip tiled roof and various kitchen wings.
Interior - Some C17 panelling on lst floor with fluted pilasters and moulded
cornice. Inglenook fireplace.
Delaware, the Mounting Block, Granary and Outbuilding to North-East form a group.
