Probably early C17, using stout timbers salvaged from an earlier building. Reigate
stone basement, timber framed above, partly brick-filled and partly hung with
old pointed tiles giving a recticulated pattern. Roof and part of walls now
covered in corrugated iron. C19 casements with glazing bars. Original door space
on ground floor shown by break in sole plate, but now bricked up and entrance is
a half glazed door in basement. Alteration probably circa 1840 when staircase
inserted and grates modernised. Originally one room on each floor; little side rooms
now partitioned off, one using imported Cl7 wainscoting. Stone fireplace with
moulded flattened Tudor arch. Queen-post and side-purlin roof. Large projecting
chimney on south end, of Reigate stone with big quoins and offsets now mostly
rendered.
