House. Early C17, with C20 alterations and additions. Coursed
squared and rubble gritstone with ashlar dressings, coped
gables with moulded kneelers, a central ridge stack, and a
concrete tiled roof. T-plan house, with central lobby
entrance. South elevation of 2 storeys with attics and 3 bays,
with a central doorway within a chamfered quoined surround,
with a substantial lintel beneath a drip mould. To the west, a
restored 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned window. To the
east, a similar 4-light window, both beneath drip moulds. At
first floor level, a small single-light opening sits above the
doorway, flanked by restored 4-light recessed chamfered
mullioned windows. To the west end, a further 2-light window.
All joinery, including a planked door with a glazed panel to
the upper half, is of C20 date and stained. The west gable has
a single C17 light with moulded surround to the apex. The rear
wing has 2 and 3-light chamfered mullioned windows, without
hoodmoulds. C20 flat-roofed infil extension between rear range
and western part of main range.
INTERIOR: heavily beamed ceilings throughout with exposed
floor joists. Central stack incorporates 2 hearths, that to
the western hall with wide cambered lintel, that to the
eastern parlour with a more modestly sized plain surround. C17
square panelling in a first floor bedroom, and the remnant of
a C17 winder stair to the attic floor.
