House. Mid C18, with early C19 and C20 alterations and
additions. Coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings,
quoins, moulded kneelers, coped gables, and gable ashlar
stacks. Stone slate and concrete tiled roof coverings. T-plan
house, with lower 2-storey range to rear. 2 storeys and attics
above a basement, 3 bays. Symmetrical elevation, with a
central doorway having an inserted C18 timber doorcase with a
broken pediment replacing a C18 door surround. C20 glazed
double doors with glazing bars, and above, a semicircular
fanlight with decorative glazing bars. Flanking the doorway
are stacked glazing bar sashes, 6 x 4 panes, in flush stone
surrounds. The surround to the window above the doorway is
moulded, and slightly advanced, the lintel incorporating a
central keyblock. A C20 single-storey lean-to on the south
gable conceals a further C20 flat-roofed extension. Lower rear
wing with two 2-light flush-mullioned windows to the north
side wall, the upper windows taller than the lower. Similar
window at attic level in north gable of main range. Blocked
ground-floor doorway to south end of east gable, with massive
surround and lintel.
INTERIOR: C18 two-panelled doors throughout, with architraves
and picture rails. One C18 hearth to eastern ground-floor room
with corbelled jambs supporting a massive lintel. Staircase
with turned balusters and moulded handrail rises to attic
level.
