2 and 4 Thompson's Yard

A Grade II Listed Building in Wakefield North, Wakefield

old date stone

Uploader's Comments

Number 2-4 Thompson's yard, now the Gissing Centre, was partly demolished in the 1960s, but had to be rebuilt due to its Grade II Listed status. During the demolition this date stone was found and subsequently placed in the wall of the centre. The initials RK AK and the date 1561 refer to the family Kaye, but there are no other details.
