Newspaper office, now shop. 1836-39, remodelled in late C20.
By JB and W Atkinson for The Yorkshireman. Painted brick in
Flemish bond, with timber eaves cornice, and slate roof with
brick stack.
EXTERIOR: 4-storey, 2-window front. First floor windows are
arcaded round-headed sashes, with radial-glazed upper sashes,
painted brick sills and moulded impost band, arched over
window heads. On second floor, windows are 12-pane sashes with
sill band; on third floor unequal 9-pane sashes with painted
stone sills: all have flat arches. Broad frieze band beneath
moulded cornice on heavy brackets.
