House. C16 or earlier. Timber-framed and rendered with 2
parallel ranges of plain tile roof, abutting No.15 (qv) and
hipped to the south-west.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with cellar; 2-window range. Plain
timber-framed parapet with moulded coping and C20 pargeting.
1st floor of front has 12-pane sash windows with moulded
surrounds. The ground floor has early C19 slightly bowed
16-pane window. Contemporary doorcase with projecting moulded
hood on thin pilasters. 6-panel C20 door.
Flank has two 16-pane sash windows with moulded surrounds to
1st floor. Ground floor has 2 similar windows, a cellar
entrance down steps and C20 door in moulded surround. Brick
single-storey C20 rear extension with plain tile gabled roof.
INTERIOR: contains remnants of cross-wing, probably of
open-halled house consisting of Nos 13, 15 & 17 (qv). This was
extended to the north-west in good quality softwood framing
probably of the C18 and has spine beams with bowtell
'chamfer'. Large cellar partly with brick barrel-vault.
