Here lyeth the body of Master Robert Smythson, Gentleman. Architector and Survayor unto the most worthy house of Wollaton with deverse others of great account. He lived in the fayth of Christ 79 yeares and then departed this life the fifteenth of October Anno Domini 1614. The th of fifteenth above the numerals is a ligature. (Photo Mar 2014).
