COLEBROOKE COLEFORD
SS 70 SE
3/117 Sunnybank
GV II
Cottage. Probably C18. Plastered cob on rubble footings; cob or rubble stack with
plastered brick chimney shaft; thatch roof.
2-room plan cottage facing east with central stair with projecting left (south) end
stack. Probably original outshots to rear. 2 storeys. Balanced but not quite
symmetrical 2-window front of late C19-early C20 casements with glazing bars and
central C20 front door with C20 gabled and thatch-roofed porch. Roof is continuous
with adjoining Tudor Cottage (q.v.) to right and gable-ended to right.
Interior shows little exposed carpentry. Larger left (south) room has plain-
chamfered crossbeams. Although party wall with adjoining Tudor Cottage (q.v.)
suggests that there was once a late C16 building on site of Sunnybank the present
building is wider than Tudor Cottage and appears to be a C18 rebuild although some
late C16 work may be incorporated. Roof not inspected.
Coleford is a remarkably unspoilt and picturesque hamlet.
