5/152 Barn c200m north, north-east
of Cassey Compton House

GV II

Barn. Late C18. Weatherboarding and coursed squared and dressed
limestone, stone slate roof. Rectangular plan. Two stone bays at
west end with basement entered from south, 4-bay timber framed
weatherboarded section on staddle stones right (weatherboarding
replaced C20). Plank door to basement level of stone part on south
side, blocked door above. Pitching door at west gable end,
pitching window with double shutters on north. Two slate hung
gabled pitching windows and plank door up 2 stone steps on north
side to weatherboarded part. Plank door in east gable end. Half-
hipped roof.
Interior: Weatherboarding fixed to close-studded timber framed
walls. Original roof trusses with collar and tie beams, queen
struts to just below collar. Double butt purlin with straight
bracing to lower purlin. Stone dividing wall with plank door
dividing the 2 parts of barn. Ground on south side of timber-
framed part built up with semi-circular limestone rubble retaining
wall.
