Includes Jesmond, Grange Road (q.v.) Terrace of houses, late C19, stucco,
hipped Welsh slate roofs and ridge stacks with deep bracketed cornices,
ceramic antefixae. Italian style. 3 storeys, with 4-storey towers near
ends, 12 bays in all, the 2nd and 11th tower bays narrower. Banded ground
floor. Strings at floor levels. Deep bracketed eaves. Sash windows, those
on 2nd floor segmental-headed. Bays 3,4,6,7,9,10, have 2-storey canted bays
with quasi-classical ornament. Paired sashes between and above, all in
architraves. Paired porches in bays 5 and 8 and single porches in tower
bays, have round rusticated architraves on pilasters with foliate capitals,
and balustrades over. On left-hand-side return : Jesmond, Grange Road - in
similar style - is part of the composition.
