House. c1820, with later rear wing. Grey brick with stone dressings,
graduated slate roof. Central direct entry plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays. C20
glazed door under fanlight with radial glazing in doorcase with panelled
reveals and Doric pilasters flanked by 16-pane sashes with sills and
cambered wedge lintels. First floor: smaller 16-pane sashes with sills and
cambered wedge lintels. Hipped roof, end and axial stacks. Side entry to
right elevation: glazed double-leaf door in round-headed opening flanked by
Doric columns supporting plain cornice. A number of interior features
survive including a cut-string stair with scrolled tread-ends, fluted
balusters, and slender handrail, doors of 6 beaded panels in panelled
reveals and pilastered doorcases with scrolled brackets to cornices, and a
fanlight with intersecting glazing bars over a green baize door to the rear
wing. Some of these details can be paralleled in Barff House and Burshill
House in the same parish (q.v.)
