GV II

House, now 2 houses. Late C17, remodelled early C19, with late
C20 alterations and additions. Large mid C19 addition to left.
Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings. Stone slate and
artificial slate roofs with 2 gable and single side wall stone
stacks. Tudor Revival style.
EXTERIOR: chamfered plinth, quoins, coped gables with
kneelers. 2 storeys plus attics; 5 window range. Double range
plan.
5 wooden cross casements with label moulds. Above, 2 large
through-eaves dormers with 2-light Gothic casements with
hoodmoulds. Below, central square crenellated porch with
4-centred arched opening and pointed side lights, covering a
half-glazed 4-centred arched door with overlight. On either
side, 2 larger wooden cross casements with label moulds.
To right, a set back 2-storey addition, single window, with a
cross casement and below, a large canted flat-roofed
conservatory, C20.
Mid C19 addition, to left, now Stumperlowe Grange, 2 storeys
plus garrets; 3 window range. Half-hipped stone slate roof
with single ridge and single side wall stacks. Patterned verge
boards. Front facing end has a 2-storey canted bay window with
hipped roof and 3 margin light sashes on each floor. Above, 2
small round-headed sashes. Left return has to right a blank
gable with 2 small plain sashes to the garret.
