Nurses' home, now offices. Dated 1897, restored and converted
1990. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and slate
mansard roofs. 9 coped ridge stacks.
EXTERIOR: plinth, rusticated quoins, first floor cornice,
moulded wooden eaves cornice and pediments. 3 storeys plus
basement and attics; 16 window range. E-plan. Windows are
mainly plain sashes. Projecting central block, 8 windows, has
balustrade, and projecting entrance bay with ashlar pediment
containing enriched datestone. On either side 3 sashes, the
upper ones smaller. Attic has 5 box dormers. Ground floor has
on either side 2 sashes, and basement has 2 smaller sashes.
Entrance bay has 2 sashes on the upper floors and below, a
Doric portico with entablature and moulded blocking course,
with a flight of steps with coped balustrade walls. Under the
portico, a half-glazed door with fanlight and sidelights. Set
back side bays have 2 windows on each floor and 2 box dormers.
Pedimented wings have full height stone bow windows with lead
half-domes and 2 windows on each floor. Third floor windows
have ornamented aprons.
