Butchers and abattoir. Formerly 2 houses. C1800 converted
mid C19. Painted brick with ashlar dressings, and pantile
roofs, with 3 gable stacks. Street front, has to left a 3
storey block with a doorway to the left in a round headed
opening with stable door, to the right 2 shop windows. Above
2 large glazing bar sashes with ashlar wedge lintels with
double keystones, above again 2 small glazing bar sashes. To
the right a 2 storey block with a single plain sash, and to
the right a cart entrance with 2 large plank doors with a
chamfered lintel, above 2 glazing bar sashes. To 'the rear an
open yard, with to the east a linting single storey
outbuilding with a tall stack, a single plank door and a 2
light sliding sash. To the rear a single storey abattoir
range with to the left a stable door, then a doorway with
wooden gabled porch. and a boxed pump. Beyond a wide upper
opening with plank shutters. Beyond again 2 large entrances
with sliding doors. Interior has brick vaulted cellar.
Staircase is a single flight and return with moulded handrail,
stick balusters and turned newel posts. Two Victorian
fireplaces, most rooms have spine beams. Abattoir to rear has
rows of hooks attached to encased roof structure.
