Planned terrace of houses. Early C19. Stucco with stucco
detail; dry slate or asbestos slate roofs behind stuccoed
parapet with moulded entablature; hipped roof dormers; brick
or rendered end stacks plus stacks over the pediments of the 2
end houses. Double-depth plan, each house with front room on
its left and entrance hall on its right, except the 2 larger
end houses which have their entrance halls behind the front
rooms.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attics over basements; each house a
3-window range with giant pilasters dividing the houses. The
end houses have triangular pediments with central attic
windows to the front. Many original hornless sashes, some with
glazing bars, those to ground floor with round-arched heads.
Enclosed porches with moulded entablature and most with blind
side windows; some panelled doors.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: low plinths above basement walls and
original iron railings to Nos 39 and Nos 43-47.
Part of a group of some of the most complete early C19 housing
in Plymouth.
