Ornate Baroque wall monument, with English inscribed panel in Classical surround: crested classical helmets, horns of plenty (cornucopias) furled and fastened drapery, fan of flowing water. Above is a cornice with a crest and shield of Arms: Argent three talbots heads erased sable (seme of crosses crosslet sable not visible) (Hall of Lancs) impaling Argent three whales heads erased haurient sable (Whalley). -(Here) lieth MARGARET dearest DAUGHTER of PENISTON WHALLEY Esq the Loveing wife of THOMAS HALL, Rector of this Church from whose Endeared arms she Was taken in Ye Beauty of her age 16th Dec 1680 Aged 24 leaving him ye comfortable Hope of a loving Meeting Where All Tears Shall Be Wiped Away With The Blesst of a Fair (Resurrection) (missing words). For Their Father issue Son IRELAND, Daughters Margret and WHALLEY. She was Provident, Charitable to every Condideration ( ) Maternal Piety: Before Her Death Professing Her true Faith ( ) and Charity and Haveing the virtues ( ) Christian ( ) With Her Expiring Breath She Cheerfully Said: Receive My Soul, Into Thy Hands O Lord I Comend My Self-.
